JARPUG alpha 0.2 is out!


It's certainly later than I'd planned.

alpha 0.1 - 0.2 changelog:

added:

  • CATS. one cat. but now the dog generator can also generate cats. This may be a crime.
  • new game over screen! It has the option to respawn at the most recent entrance after game over (handy if there wasn't a save point nearby!)
  • new areas and story segments to explore!
  • a few too many story segments maybe. Tell me if it's too much text. I liked it at first but I've been testing this a lot.
  • magic ghost grabby puzzles
  • items! use a slingshot to launch them into battle.
  • status effects: poison, taunted, charged
  • AOE status zones: charge zone will heal and empower any friendlies in the shiny circle
  • improved platforming and battle movement
  • new dungeon and labs music by Matt Javanshir!

fixed:

  • pug could get stuck holding crates forever after defeating foes in battle.
  • lots of other junk it's in alpha jeez.

known issues:

  • greyhound's new taunt skill isn't available unless you start a new game, because loading saves from alpha 0.1 will load the skill grid from alpha 0.1. I'll improve the way skill grids are loaded in the future to fix this sorta issue. Refund skill points at least.
  • cloth physics is turned off because Unity broke their cloth sim in an update. Why did I update, though? Reasons. The meshes are simple enough that I can replace the simulation with something else if I need to.
  • talk bubble collision avoidance can sometimes fail wildly and punt talk bubbles into walls instead of out of them. sigh.
  • fog can render in front of text on rooftops.
  • it's an alpha.
