Match Shot Chimera alpha 0.4 is out!


Alpha 0.4 is out now! It adds a tutorial, randomly generated levels, heal-when-matching upgrades (OP for now), enemy shark bots with homing bullet teeth, and much more!

...and since I neglected to post a devlog for alpha 0.3, I'd like to tell you the general plan for Match Shot Chimera! This project is meant to be a smallish game dev project for me to finish while recovering from the unsuccessful Kickstarter for my long-developed dog JRPG, JARPUG. Of course, no game is small to develop. But this is smaller than that.

I plan to enter Steam Early Access with this project in a couple months, likely after a Steam Next Fest. For now, Match Shot Chimera is in its free alpha stage and I'd very much appreciate any feedback from you!

alpha 0.4 Patch Notes:

  • Added tutorial level
  • Added random level generation (after tutorial!)
  • Added Match Heal upgrade (a bit OP now)
  • Added damage % mods to Big Shot upgrade
  • Added shark bot enemies
  • Added stun effect for interrupted squid bots
  • Added "coyote time" for matches to make matching blocks easier while moving.
  • Added pause screen (ESC on keyboard)
  • Tweaked XP scale to improve leveling after 4.
  • Fixed healing too much after max health upgrades.
  • Improved various enemy/boss death effects.
  • Improved enemy boss balancing, difficulty.
